Working in Partnership with Bristol City Council to bring housing to Bristol.

In 1852 John Willmott undertook his first building contract for the princely sum of £1. Since then, the company has grown into one of the country’s largest privately owned construction firms with a strong emphasis on longevity, sustainability and creating a long-term legacy; group chief executive Rick Willmott is the fifth generation of the family to lead the business. Willmott Dixon is also one of the most influential companies in the region, responsible for a host of projects that are shaping Bristol’s future (see map), including working in partnership with Bristol City Council to create a thriving new community for Bristolians in Ashton Rise.

Shaping Bristol's Future

University of West England Bower Ashton campus

Our new Digital Media Building underlines closely the aspirations and needs of a growing university while also reflecting its semi-rural environment. This is a modern, fit-for-purpose environment for the Bower Ashton Campus.

Queen's Building at University of Bristol

We are behind the new Queen’s wing at the University of Bristol, which provides a large, flexible teaching space to accommodate up to 200 students. Our work included an undergraduate laboratory for heavy engineering work with built-in demonstration areas.

Colston Hall Foyer

We gave the famous Colston Hall concert venue it’s trademark front foyer, an eyecatching gold copper-clad facade with large glass atrium that is five storeys high. This gave the venue a host of new facilities like bars, ticket office, cafe, education space, rehearsal rooms and performance space.

Colston Hall

A venue that’s hosted iconic acts like The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Elton John and Led Zeppelin, we’re now giving the Grade Two listed landmark a complete refurbishment following our role ten years ago to add a new entrance foyer.

Built to rent homes at Finzels Reach

We’re adding 194 new homes for the private rented sector for developer Cubex as part of the Finzels Reach regeneration. The Hawkins Lane and Georges Wharf Apartments provide some of Bristol’s finest and best located homes for private renters.

Aurora at Finzels Reach

We’re behind Bristol’s first commercial office space to achieve BREEAM Outstanding (2014 standard). The super-sustainable building for Cubex provides 95,000 square foot of Grade A space on the Floating Harbour and is one of the city’s most desirable new office locations.

Avon Fire Rescue

We worked in partnership with Avon Fire and Rescue Service to deliver three new fire stations at Kingswood, Hicks Gate and Temple. This saw a mix of refurbishment and extension to existing fire stations to provide a better use of property for the emergency services.

Keynsham Civic Centre

Keynsham Civic Centre is one of the most energy-efficient council office developments in the country. As home for Bath & North East Somerset Council, it’s a central focal point for the town and combines retail and police facilities with the office environment.
